Bill is a founding partner of the firm and is widely known as a passionate advocate for his clients. For more than 25 years he has practiced exclusively in the areas of civil rights, employee rights and labor law. He is identified in The Best Lawyers in America and in The Guide to Leading American Attorneys. Mpls/St. Paul Magazine has named him among the top labor/employment lawyers in the state, and he is consistently selected by Law & Politics magazine as a Minnesota “SuperLawyer” and among the state’s top employment litigation lawyers. In addition, Bill has been accepted for membership into the prestigious College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. His work includes trials in both state and federal court where Bill and the firm are responsible for achieving landmark results, including the largest pre-suit settlement of a gender class action in the country. Under Minnesota law, he also secured the first plaintiff’s verdict in a whistleblower trial, as well as the state’s largest judgment in a Fair Housing discrimination case. His practice entails constant negotiation, strategic advice and counseling concerning employment agreements, as well as separation, non-compete and stock agreements. He has successfully arbitrated and mediated hundreds of cases. Bill is the former Chairperson of the Labor and Employment Section of the State Bar Association and former President of the National Employment Lawyer’s Association, Minnesota Chapter. He received his J.D. from Northwestern University Law School, and a B.A. from Colgate University.
